Balancing the WAHM Scale
What does being a work-at-home-mom, a WAHM, mean to you?
Let's consider...
Work-At-Home indicates running a business, or performing a job in a professional manner with the intention of earning an income - all from the comfort of home.
Mom is our primary role. We may have a business to run, but our main reason for choosing to work from home is to be able to spend more time with our kids, to nurture them better, and to instill our values in them. In essence, we want to raise our own children, not pay someone to do it for us. That's the joy of being a WAHM and that's why so many women and mothers desire to build a homebased business.
To be an effective WAHM requires that we balance these two life roles - business owner/career woman and mom. We must successfuly blend these two aspects of our lives in order to create harmony and to help us find fulfillment as we live day by day and accomplish our daily tasks.
Unfortunately, some WAHMs go to one extreme or the other. They may focus so much on their businesses that they neglect their children. Or they may focus so much on their kids that they have no energy or time left with which to build a business. For a successful WAHM, both are necessary.
Being a WAHM includes both Working-At-Home and being a Mom. It involves discipline, prioritizing, time management, organization and other skills that allow us to truly have the best of both worlds.
If you're seeking the greatest fulfillment in your WAHM life, begin by recognizing and understanding the need for balance, then learn to prioritize your time and energy so you can successfully manage both life roles you have chosen.
