Bio
Why you want to know more about me is anyone’s guess, but since you asked…
I have been a follower of Jesus Christ since October 2, 1983, when I accepted His forgiveness and allowed Him to become the Lord of my life. He is number one to me and everything I do, think or say is affected by my relationship with Christ. That includes the way I run my business, the clients I choose to work with and every relationship I enjoy.
In addition to working toward ordination in the Church of the Nazarene, I am a professional with over 30 years experience writing and editing articles, ezines and newsletters, press releases, business correspondence and more. Being a work-at-home-mom (WAHM) – alas with an empty nest! – I work strictly online from the comfort of home. This provides me the luxury of devoting time to ministry while helping my overworked husband (an upholsterer and minister in his own right) to support us financially.
My Websites include…
• DarleneBishop.com, which serves as a gateway to all that I do.
• Frugal Fancy, which is filled with frugal living helps and tips, money saving resources, budgeting tools, tips and ideas to help you and your family survive in tough economic times.
• Quality Business Writing, a writing and business building blog designed to help small, home-based and online business owners and WAHMs build their businesses one word at a time™.
• Crochet Favorites, where I offer free and low-cost crochet patterns, crochet ebooks and links to your favorite crochet information online.
• Who’s That WAHM? A free Who’s Who Directory of Work-at-Home Moms, direct sales consultants, and other women in business.
My writing background includes articles for newspapers, magazines and online publications, press releases, newsletters, Website content and much, much more. A number of my short pieces have been published in various print publications, including Woman’s Day, Business Today, Penny Press, and Dell. I typically focus on writing for business owners, however, rather than for publication.
In 1998 I formed what became a very successful writing and editorial services company, Copeland & Lane, under the auspices of WriteBusiness.com. When the workload became too great for one person to handle, I worked with contractors for awhile, but I was never satisfied with that arrangement.
So a few years later I sold the business to an online competitor (who has since shut down the site) and went back to a “real” job. I thought I’d find time to do some freelancing for publication but that never happened. And after battling for my sanity for nearly two years, I cried, “I’ve Had Enough!” and ran screaming back to my home office. I’m here to stay.
Today, I work alone and plan to keep it that way. I have no desire or intention of growing the business beyond what I can handle by myself, which leaves me time for Christian ministry and a life offline.
Please visit my portfolio or read some of my articles if you’d like to see samples of my work. Then contact me if you think I may be the writer you’re looking for. And if you need to talk to a minister, I’m here for that, too!
Look forward to working with you in the future… God bless!
